In daily life, people rely on electronic equipment more and more seriously. The upgrading of electronic technology also means that people place high hopes on the technical development of power supply. Power management chip is a chip that takes on the responsibility of power transformation, distribution, detection and other power management in the electronic equipment system. It is mainly responsible for identifying the power supply amplitude of the CPU, generating the corresponding short moment wave, and driving the subsequent circuit to output power. Now we will introduce the commonly used power management chips and their functions.

The power management IC can be summarized as follows:

1. DC/DC modulation IC. It includes a boost/drop regulator and a charge pump.

2. Power factor control PFC pre modulation IC. Provide power input circuit with power factor correction function.

3. Pulse modulation or pulse amplitude modulation PWM/PFM control IC. It is a pulse frequency modulation and/or pulse width modulation controller used to drive external switches.

4. Linear modulation IC (such as linear low dropout regulator LDO, etc.). It includes positive and negative regulators, and low drop LDO modulator.

5. Battery charging and management IC. Including battery charging, protection and power display IC, as well as "smart" battery IC for battery data communication.

6. The hot plug board controls the IC (eliminating the influence of inserting or removing another interface from the working system).

7. Switch function ic of MOSFET or IGBT.

Among these power management ICs, the voltage regulation IC is the fastest growing and most productive part. Various power management ICs are basically related to some related applications, so more types of devices can be listed for different applications.

The technology trend of power management is high efficiency, low power consumption and intelligence. Improving efficiency involves two different aspects: on the one hand, we want to maintain the overall efficiency of energy conversion, and at the same time, we want to reduce the size of equipment; On the other hand, the protection size remains unchanged and the efficiency is greatly improved.

In the AC/DC conversion, the low on state resistance meets the needs of more efficient adapters and power supplies in computer and telecommunications applications. In terms of power circuit design, the general standby energy consumption has been reduced to less than 1W, and the power efficiency can be improved to more than 90%. In order to further reduce the existing standby energy consumption, new IC manufacturing technology and breakthroughs in low-power circuit design are required.

Power management ic chip mainly manages the conversion, distribution, detection and other power management of electrical energy in electronic equipment system.

It can charge the lithium battery, characterized by constant current and voltage charging, over-current, voltage protection, internal temperature monitoring and other functions.
